How to Explain Innovative Technology With Infographics — Case of Romand
For one of our clients — Romad — a company developing antivirus software, we"ve visualized its whitepaper required for the ICO. The solution used by Romad is different from a traditional antivirus technology, that"s why this work encouraged us to go beyond the simple visualization.
Task and Challenge
We had to explain a complicated but effective Romand technology. At the same time, we had to clearly differentiate Romad from other antiviruses as the modus operandi of our client"s product is completely different. Romad represents the new generation of protection software and we had to transmit this message to the target audience of the whitepaper: potential investors and antivirus users.
1. Explain the modus operandi of standard antiviruses and disadvantages of its protection model
The first thing to know about viruses and the fight against them — there are plenty of them and new ones emerge constantly. That's why the fighting against viruses is comparable with combat against hydra: you chop off one head and two new appear at the same place (in case of traditional antiviruses).

We demonstrated how traditional antiviruses function. Regardless of the abundance of the antiviruses, they share the same modus operandi providing protection only against those viruses data on which is available in their databases. It means that if there is no information about a particular virus in the database your computer will remain vulnerable to the threat until the release of an update which may appear only within a few days after an attack.

2. Explain Romad's modus operandi and its advantages
Romad protects against all viruses including those absent from the databases of the antivirus companies.

As the Romad's whitepaper was designed for future antivirus users and investors, it was crucial to demonstrate differences between Romad and traditional viruses, explain its modus operandi in an easily understandable manner for those not familiar with computer virology as well as to prove that there is a demand for such product on the market.
That's why we demonstrated major differences between this product and competitors with the help of infographic.

Unlike other antiviruses, Romad identifies the virus from the very beginning. The software development team spent years analyzing genetic properties of virus software in order to enable the antivirus to identify the virus by its "DNA", which is common for all scumware.

Thus, the computer equipped with Romad is protected even against Zero-Day threats — viruses against which no protection has been developed yet. This approach confronts the traditional business model used by the antivirus software developers, permanently creating new viruses. As the basis for these viruses is common, the Romad technology allows to effectively protect users.

3. Explain the product to investors
In order to explain how the Romad plans to generate profit, we demonstrated its business model which is based on the emission of Defense token. These are tokens granting buyers the right to receive money. The cash flow is generated by users who have the license for the usage of the antivirus — they pay for every repelled attack. Then, a part of this money goes to token buyers.

The result
The Romad's ICO is planned for the autumn. The whitepaper is the main sales tool in China, as Chinese investors prioritize whitepaper where Romad explains how the blockchain operates.

According to the team's feedback, the whitepaper visualization facilitated the communication with investors, in particular with institutional ones.
Furthermore, infographics were used for the creation of other content — a presentation of the product for Chinese investors.
